Recertification Process Lapse Policy

Failure to submit required recertification credits by June 30th and/or pay the billed maintenance of certification fee by September 30th in the year in which certification maintenance requirements must be satisfied will result in cancellation of the individual’s certification as an OCP.

  1. To achieve recertification after certification has lapsed for less than twelve (12) months will require submission of the prescribed credits for three years plus an additional credit for each six month period or portion thereof since the expiration date. An additional processing fee of $25 over and above the recertification fee must accompany the request for reinstatement of the certification. For example:

Individuals lacking credits – after June 30th, a total of 10 credits and a $30 fee are required; after December 31st, a total of 11 credits and a $30 fee are required.

  2. To achieve recertification after certification has lapsed twelve (12) months or more will require submission of a new endorsed Application for Certification as an OCP with the prescribed application fees and successful completion of requirements current at that time. (If required credits and/or recertification fee has not been submitted by June 30th (1 year from recertification date), an application with fee of $100 must be submitted, along with passing other OCP requirements.

  3. The OAP designation shall automatically be assigned to any OCP who has not recertified. After completing recertification, use of the OCP designation will be reauthorized.

The above applies as well to those who may apply for “Lifetime Certification” after certification has lapsed, with the following exceptions:

a. Is a current member.
b. Certification is not more than three years out of date.
c. Applicant has met or exceeded the experience criteria (six years).
d. Has met the age requirement (62).
e. Is willing to pay the lifetime application fee, of $200.
