BREAKING AND ENTERING

While OPSEC's focus is on “generally unclassified evidence of sensitive operations or activities" security professionals cannot avoid addressing risk management considerations and the protection of all valued assets. Mike Dilley reminds us of this fact by his description of a historical anecdote dealing with surreptitious entry.

 

The seven-man team set about the job quietly, efficiently, and quickly. They took off their shoes as soon as they got inside the entry door. Then, each holding a sketch of the office's floor plan, they moved to their individual tasks. The agent-in-charge and the evaluator went to a central area in the offices to be on-call wherever they were needed. The photographer began putting curtains over the windows to keep light from leaking out Each man checked the area he was working to see what the dust layer looked like.
