Section I – OCP Certification

The OPSEC Professionals Society (OPS) established the OPSEC Certified Professional (OCP) certification to support professional development and improvement through the exchange of ideas and information on the methods, practices, and procedures related to OPSEC programs and associated activities. In addition to disseminating information, OPS is interested in further developing and refining principles and techniques common to sound OPSEC practices.

Applicants for certification as an OCP must:

1. Be a regular OPS member in good standing

2. Have five years OPSEC professional experience

3. Have had formal OPSEC training or an approved equivalent

4. Have a four-year college degree

(Experience can substitute for a college degree)

5. Submit a completed and signed application form

6. Submit a paper on OPSEC in accordance with guidelines

7. Remit a $100.00 application fee ($50.00 is non-refundable)

After initial certification, all OCPs must recertify at three year intervals. The recertification is based upon continued good standing in OPS and earning sufficient number of credits for professional activities performed during the three year period. (Cost of recertification is $100)

Note: All OCP's will also be awarded the IOSS Fellowship Certificate. OCP's will be asked to complete an IOSS Fellows application.
